Rev. Phil Faig, Senior Pastor

Phil began his ministry at Gayton in March, 2005. He is a graduate of James Madison University (Go Dukes!) and the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. His 20 years of ministry experience includes being a new church pastor for a congregation in the suburbs of Minneapolis, MN and the lead pastor for an inner-suburban church in Arlington, Va.
A native of Greensboro, North Carolina, Phil welcomes hints as to where to find North Carolina BBQ here in his beloved adopted home of Virginia. He is married to his wonderful wife, Jody, and has two young adult children, Alexander and Margeaux.
Phil is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry degree in Semiotics and Future Studies at the George Fox Evangelical Seminary.
Kristin Prasad, Pastor of Kids & Youth

Kristin was born in Massachusetts, and spent her growing up years just outside of Chicago and Boston. Though raised in the north, she has been a southerner since her early days at the University of Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English and a Master’s in Teaching. Her husband’s job brought them to Richmond, where she worked full-time raising their young children before joining the staff team in January of 2002.
Kristin first joined the Gayton staff as the Director of AGAPE Preschool. In August of 2006, she became Kids’ Minister, and in December of 2008 added the responsibilities of Minister of Operations. In April 2012, Kristin transitioned to her current role, coordinating ministries to kids from birth through eighteen and their families.
Kristin is married to Raj and has three fabulous teenagers, Alia, Kaya, and Tyrnan. Alia enjoys kicking a soccer ball around the fields at William & Mary, Kaya speaks Chinese and French to anyone who will listen at Maggie Walker, and Tyrnan entertains friends with his tenor sax in the marching band at Freeman High School.
In her spare time, Kristin enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and (yes, it’s true) creating spreadsheets. She’ll tell anyone willing to listen about why U2 is the best rock band ever.
Phil Lawson, Worship Arts Pastor

A native of Richmond, Phil began his ministry at Gayton in June 2013. He came here most recently from The Collegiate School where he served as the interim choral director. After receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from James Madison University, Phil was a choral music teacher in Chesterfield County for 7 years. After fulfilling a call to full-time ministry, Phil spent the next several years completing the Master of Divinity degree at Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond while serving as Minister of Music and Worship at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Mechanicsville.
Phil lives in Glen Allen with his wife, Sandy, their two kids, Anna and Trevor, and their husky/lab mix dog, Baxter.
In his free time, Phil enjoys running road races of all distances, home improvement projects, and just about anything active and outdoors with his family.
Rev. Michael Gunter, Associate Pastor of Senior Adults

Michael joined the Gayton staff team in 2007 and currently serves as the Associate Pastor for Senior Adults and Facility Manager. He is a graduate of Charleston Southern University (SC) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (NC). Michael entered Christian ministry with electric guitar in hand, playing in two Charleston-based Christian rock bands from 1985-1994.
After earning his seminary degree in 1997, he served in churches in Wyoming and Tennessee before moving to Virginia in 2006. He currently divides his time at Gayton between Senior Adult ministry, pastoral care, Bible teaching and playing guitar in Gayton’s praise band. Michael is also very involved in the craft of writing. He has written several books, published three, and will complete his sci-fi trilogy by year’s end. He has an affinity for independent artists, both writers and musicians, and has assisted and supported several in their creative endeavors. He is also the co-facilitator for the Richmond chapter of Virginia Writers.

Rev. Christy Foldenauer, Discipleship Pastor

A Virginia native, Christy received her Bachelors degree in communication from James Madison University. After years in the financial industry in sales development , management, and consulting, Christy felt called to vocational ministry. Christy attended The Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond and graduated with her Master of Arts in Theological Studies in May of 2014.
As a Bible teacher, story teller and lover of all things spiritual growth, Christy enjoys engaging the scriptures and leading others to dive deep into the elements of the practical Christian Life. Christy loves walking beside others in the journey of life listening and learning together where the story of God is unfolding all around us.
Christy, and her Husband Adam, have three awesome kids, Ashton, Lauren and Nate. Christy enjoys hanging out with friends and family, doing anything creative(from writing to singing and even a little crafting) and cooking.
Clint Beasley, Communications Associate

Clint was born in Richmond and currently enjoys country life in Hanover.
His background is in live sound and studio recording. He has spent significant time previously in Western Europe as a volunteer through the International Mission Board. He served as media developer for an IMB mission team in Vienna, Austria. Traveling through Austria, Germany, and the Netherlands has allowed him to see the intense need for Christ abroad. He spent 2007-2014 working as AV & Desktop Technician at the IMB and worked directly with missionaries going to the field.
Clint and his lovely bride, Sarah, have three awesome kids: Lily Mae, Silas, and Jude. Among other things, they love playing together and eating together.
Clint also serves as a small group leader for 4th and 5th graders, enjoys playing guitar and songwriting.
Rhonda Holland, Associate Kids Minister

Rhonda was born in the historic college town of Fredericksburg, Virginia where she grew up with many relatives close by. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Richmond to attend Virginia Commonwealth University. After earning a Fine Arts Degree, she apprenticed under a master chef to become a sous chef in a local restaurant. Rhonda met her husband, Bert, during this time and left the restaurant business to move to Goochland and become a full time wife and mom.
She and her family began attending Gayton in 1996. Rhonda soon became active in the children’s programs and joined the kid’s ministry team in 2009. She has enjoyed working and growing with the children and families at Gayton. She will complete her Children’s Ministry Certification in the fall of 2014.
Rhonda and Bert live in Henrico County and have 3 children, Zach 22, Julia 19, and Max 15. They spend their spare time on the water and in the sun. Rhonda enjoys cooking, art projects, decorating, and hanging out with friends and family.
Kim Lee, Associate Kids Minister

Kim joined the GBC staff in February 2011. She attended Bridgewater College and obtained a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology. She completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Kim holds Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor, and much of her clinical work has focused on children and families, and adolescent substance abuse. Kim also holds a license to teach preK-6th grade.
Her ministry experience has focused on kids and she co-developed and implemented a Kid’s Worship Program in Roanoke at the church she was raised in. She has been actively involved in kid’s ministry at Gayton since 2008 through Wednesday night programs and kid’s music productions.
Kim enjoys spending time with her husband, Aaron, and their two daughters. She also loves going for walks, reading blogs, a good chat at Starbucks, sharing life with her LifeGROUP, and watching Hokie football.
David Giles, Director of Sports Ministry and Middle School Associate

Giles hails from the bustling metropolis of Dunn, North Carolina, where you’re more likely to see a cotton field than a strip mall. He was privileged to attend the University of Richmond on a football scholarship from 1997-2002.
Giles has been an elementary school teacher for the past 11 years in Henrico County, and recently finished his master’s in administration from George Washington University.
He has been happily married to Erika for the past 6 years. And they have 3 lovely daughters, Karina, Ava, and Lila, whom they love beyond explanation. Giles is thankful that every day is an adventure!
Lyn Voige, Administrative Assistant

Lyn was born in Lexington, KY and lived there until 1996, therefore she loves horses and basketball! She has a Bachelor of Science from the University of Kentucky in the College of Allied Health.
She taught in the Dental Hygiene program at UK, and worked in a private dental practice for 20 years.
She met her wonderful husband, John, in college and they have been married since 1977. After moves to Little Rock, AR; Columbus, OH; and Nashville, TN her family moved to Richmond in 2003. Lyn and her family joined Gayton in 2003, and she has enjoyed working at GBC since January 2006. They have two great adult children, Web and Jaclyn.
In her free time Lyn enjoys cooking (and eating!), spending time in good conversation with family and friends, walking – preferably on the beach or hiking in the mountains, listening to music, singing, traveling, reading a great book, and watching KY Wildcats basketball.
Melissa Strong, Administrative Assistant

In January of 2009, Melissa began as Administrative Assistant at Gayton. She feels very blessed to be able to serve our Lord in this position. She loves the small church feel of Gayton and is looking forward to the exciting growth coming this year.
Melissa is a native of Salem, VA where she was a member of Fort Lewis Baptist Church. She has fond memories of the youth program there, especially youth mission trips. Melissa graduated from JMU and enjoyed time in the Caribbean before moving to Richmond. In recent years, Melissa worked in Int’l Customer Service and Inventory Control in the chemical industry.
Melissa is married to her supportive and loving husband, Wes and has two beautiful daughters, Amanda and Emily. When she has free time, Melissa likes to spend time with her family, and relax on the beach (preferably white sand with clear blue water).
Patricia Hutcherson, Administrative Assistant to the Senior Pastor

Patricia joined the Gayton staff team in January of 2013, and has been part of the Gayton family since 2008.
Patricia was born and raised in Roanoke, VA, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Virginia. After graduating in 1988, Patricia married her high school sweetheart, Hank, and moved to Richmond. Before becoming a stay-at-home mom, Patricia taught middle school for 6 years.
Her 2 children are now young adults. Tyler is a student at the University of Virginia, studying physics and math, and Danielle is a student at Glen Allen High School. Their family is completed by Biscuit, a furry retriever/shepherd mix.
Tammy Williams, Financial Administrator

Tammy grew up in Floyd, Virginia surrounded by a wonderful family before moving to Blacksburg where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Virginia Tech.
After working in the banking industry she moved to Richmond in 1991. She received her Masters in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University while working in the Treasury Department for Reynolds Metals. She and her husband, Jeff, moved to Rockville and she became a stay-at home mom to her three beautiful children, Megan, Nicholas and AJ.
She returned to work in April 2012 as the Financial Director for AGAPE and the SPACE and then as the Financial Administrator at Gayton in August 2012.
Paige Teague, AGAPE Preschool Director

Paige Teague has been a part of the AGAPE family since 2007 when she joined the staff as the co-director. Prior to AGAPE, Paige worked in the Henrico County Public Schools as an elementary school teacher.
She grew up in Richmond and returned here after earning a degree in sociology and a teaching certification from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton. Paige married her husband John in 1997 and they have three children, Taylor, Hailey and Hatcher .
Paige used to have hobbies of her own, but has put them on hold in order to be chauffeur to her children, whose hobbies include softball, performing in Character Works productions and gymnastics.
Bernadette Ramirez, SPACE Director
Bernadette is a native of Richmond and speaks fairly fluent Spanish, thanks to her mother who was born in Cuba. She studied Business at Virginia Commonwealth University then later completed the Mediation Program at the University of Richmond School of Continuing Studies. She spent several years in the business world as a procedures writer and trainer, recruiter and marketing specialist. Once her only son was born, she added room mother, Sunday School teacher, and volunteer-of-everything to her resume.
In 2002, Bernadette decided to pursue her longtime desire to work with other families and their children, becoming a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children of abuse and neglect, and a Supreme Court Certified Family, Truancy and Parent/Child Mediator. She began as the founding Director of the SPACE at Gayton Baptist Church in 2011 and continues to mediate privately, in the courts and in the school system.
Bernadette has one son, Brendan, who graduated from the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School in 2010 and Mary Washington University, in 2014, and a Cockapoo named Jerry Seinfeld. In her spare time she researches and creates resource materials for topics of interest to include: Christ-centered parenting methods, music and its benefits for both education & emotional and physical health, and nutrition and exercise to enable learning/avoid medical crisis, just to name a few. She also prioritizes exercise, and spends as much quality time with her close friends & sisters in Christ as possible. Time with her son is still her number one priority, trumping most personal plans, and she tries patiently to await his texts/calls.
