Report for Wednesday, January 10: Thanks for your continued prayers. Now that we are in the middle of our trip, we are beginning to feel the long hours in our feet and backs. It has already been a rewarding experience being with the Panamanians and serving alongside them during VBS. After VBS at First Baptist Pedregal and the mission churches, we participated in a prayer service at the church. Our team, along with church members, prayed in small groups for the VBS, the school, staff at the church, the sick and other ministries. It has been amazing to see the Lord work in the lives of the church members and the children at VBS.
As of this day, it was reported that 4 children already accepted Christ as a result of the VBS.
Report for Thursday, January 11:
As we approach the last day of VBS, it has been apparent that the Lord continued to bless us with many experiences and opportunities and helped us to make connections with kids and adults in Panama. Our team has been enjoying dancing, making crafts, eating “treats,” and learning a new language. Although, in some cases, there has been a language barrier, it has been evident that something unifies us all….Jesus Christ.
Report for Friday, January12:
Our days during the week began in prayer with our Panamanian friends at the church in which our Gayton team prayed followed by the Pedregal team. Today, Jason wrote out a prayer and prayed it aloud in Spanish. It is amazing to hear the prayers offered by the Panamanians. The sincerity, conviction and diligence in offering a prayer to the Lord is touching and has encouraged our team. Our team praised the Lord and celebrated that the total number of children who participated in VBS and heard the gospel this week was approximately 240. Each day our team provided a craft for 3 churches, supported in classes, and in other ways. As we closed our VBS today, hearts were full and many friendships were formed that will last for years to come. One special blessing is that a Panamanian teenager will be coming to the states for two months to work as an intern at Gayton. She will be staying with Cindy, Keith and Miranda Patterson ( see picture below with Cindy and Amys). Our Gayton Church family will have the opportunity to bless this young girl as over the years many of the Panamanian families have blessed Gayton members.
